Fan Supported Music & A Small Miracle

Since I missed my chance at being a teen idol and making millions right off the bat, learning to hip hop dance and conquering the pop world, I decided to write folky indie songs and start my own label.  Sadly, no one tells me how to dress or what to say, and I just have to write and edit my own songs, produce my own cds and plan my own tours.  No one tells me when I’ve gotten a bit too pudgy, and I am allowed to have a boyfriend (that is, if I could find a good one!).  It’s kind of a bummer being so independent, but I have learned to cope with it.  I don’t really like kool-aid that much anyway… (Read on …)

A few weeks ago I received an email from a close friend directing me to a site where I could enter a contest to win a spot at Lilith, a music festival for female artists.  My first reaction was, “Lilith is still going on?”  My second:  “Argh! Another contest. Gross. I guess I should enter.” (Read on …)

Hi friends! My band and I would love to play this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival, and the Dell Lounge is giving us the chance to make that a reality. They are hosting The Sound and the Jury Contest where fans are able to vote for their favorite band to have a chance to win a gig a the ACL festival. Please vote and ask your friends to vote here http://delllounge.com/soundandthejury/Gayle-Skidmore/default.aspx once a day for the next 2 weeks… or at least just once!! We are a bit behind getting started, but we believe that our new sound would be the best fit for this festival!!!  It would be a huge opportunity for us as we promote the new full-length album.  You can hear one of the new songs, “Set Me Free” when you click this link.  Thank you for your help! xo, Gayle
