Two weeks ago now (wow! already?) I took a trip to LA to play a show. I was feeling melancholy–driving past my old apartments, haunts, etc.–and down about a friendship that died for reasons that don’t make sense to me. I started feeling homesick for my flat in Oxford. “What if you could see inside my head?
See what swings from light posts, see the colours of the paths I tread..
What if you could hear the things I’ve heard?
Listen to my memories and make sense of every word…

“Can’t sate my desire for decadence
I’m caught in the mire of common sense
And God has got me in the box that it got free from

“I’ve been sung this song before
By a different heart
I know the lyrics all too well
And I hated every one of them from the start
Written August 2006 (c) 2007 GLS
When the night falls and I’ve lost my way
And my bones ache with this slow decay
Then you stir my soul with your sweet address
I will tell the world of your faithfulness
