Making Friends in Redding

I had the best time last night hanging out with my friend in Redding.  He took me to the sun dial bridge and we had a lovely time talking and listening to the river.  It’s so nice to visit new places… or places that seem new but you’ve really been to before and just don’t remember!

In the Orchard

I spent Saturday and Sunday with my Auntie Jean (yes, still “Auntie” to me). Auntie Jean and Uncle Gary live on a little farm in Port Orchard, WA, replete with every imaginable berry, fruit, and vegetable. I have the fondest memories of hunting for fresh eggs for saffron yellow omelets and chasing terrorized chickens around the coup trying to catch every one at least once. It was so refreshing to escape the almost unmanageable pace of San Diego life… to be with people I have no need to impress… to work with my hands… to taste the sweetness of simple existence in a handful of blueberries.

Week in Washington

I just finished up a week in Washington visiting my relatives and taking care of my grandma who’s 88 and had knee-replacement surgery this week.  I was hoping for a vacation… but the week ended up being pretty heavy and full of chores.
