Blackmail, Jail & Toffee Coffee
I have the weirdest nights.
Five or six years ago I was going out for coffee with my friend Lia at our favorite coffee shop and for some reason was wearing flip-flops… It was raining.
I am curling up with the remnants of a free $33 bottle of wine, a nice change from 2 buck Chuck. I just lit the candle-that-will-not-die and surveyed the hopeless mess of paints and papers that litter the floor of my room. It has been a strange week.
In Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics, he discusses the three types of friends: friends of utility, friends of entertainment and friends of excellence. I have been blessed in the last few years with hoards of the first two… but even better, I’ve made more than the common ‘2 or 3′ friends of excellence. One of those friends, Sarah R., made me the best birthday present I’ve ever gotten for my 22nd birthday.
