Finalist in The 23rd Annual Great American Song Contest

Gayle Skidmore’s 2022 electro swing release “Viva La Vita”was chosen as a Finalist in the 23rd Annual Great American Song Contest. Over 1900 songwriters from 42 countries competed. In addition to 50 winners, GASC judges selected a distinguished group of 100 Finalists from the ten categories of the contest. Gayle collaborated with San Diego producer Brandon O’Connell on this sultry track, and wrote the music and lyrics. The theme is enjoying the little things in life, and features a bit of Italian.

Gayle drew inspiration from her trips to Italy during the pandemic, and wanted to write a song that encapsulated the joy she was able to find during this difficult season. Having always been interested in electro swing and gypsy jazz (as an avid swing dancer), Gayle Skidmore has written several songs in this vein, but this is the first that she has released publicly. She has two more electro swing tracks planned for 2022. One is a collaboration with Dutch producer LVDS, and the next will be a second collaboration with Brandon O’Connell.
